Meet us

Hello
there!

We're Mark and Ada of Two Ghosts Vinyl Cafe. Our little dream is finally coming to life, and we couldn't be more excited to share it with all of you!
We have just spent the last 10 years working together in the field of Substance Use and Mental Health Support and now it is time for us to shift those same intentions of support and love to the world of music, community, and good sober drinks. We both strongly believe in the power of community when it comes to healing, stress-relief, self-care, and selfless-care.
Mark decided a couple of years ago that he wanted to re-enter the world of record stores and was able to do that through some wonderful local businesses (His & Hers Comics and Music Connection, both of Franklin County). As this dream was starting to take form, Ada also had an unexpected life/career-change that allowed an opened door for her to join in on this venture. Ada quickly connected with the idea of adding intentional hospitality and a 'slow' coffee methods cafe/sober bar as a way to continue her enjoyment in taking care of others through mindfulness practices. And let's not forget her love of a yummy and thoughtful beverage experience! Just because we're in recovery and sober doesn't mean we don't deserve delicious things!
Both were inspired by quiet Sunday mornings in their home, listening to records and enjoying Ada's most recent 'kitchen chemistry' concoctions. A dear friend reminded them of the popularity of Japanese Kissa bars in the 70's and the ball started rolling from there.
As people who live in the world of recovery, it was important to them both to offer a space that would allow for the same type of community most commonly aligned with pubs and other non-sober places. They are both so excited to offer thousands of Vinyl, CD's, Cassettes, and more for people to buy and/or listen to at Two Ghosts. Hopefully becoming members of a community that will be inclusive, thoughtful, and heart-centered.

Why Two Ghosts??
Hi, Ada here. If you ask Mark, he’ll have his own take on the name and meaning behind Two Ghosts—but this is mine.
This is our new haunt, get it??—also Hi I'm Ada and one of my love languages is a play on words/puns so get used to it! Anyway, it's the next evolution in how we show up in the world. Over the years, Mark and I have drifted through spaces —workplaces, creative projects, life chapters—sometimes together, sometimes solo. And more often than not, we leave the same way: quietly but changed. Always hoping we’ve left people, places and things a little better than we found them (since recovery and speaking for myself lol).
That’s a principle we try and live by and one we offered to those we worked with in our former vocation. It’s something my dad called being a steward—of people, of land, of community.
Two Ghosts is, in some ways, a tribute-to that ethos, and to the parents we’ve lost.
During my own grief process, I began painting translucent white silhouettes over old photos of my dad—still there, just softened. Around that same time, was the start of me facilitating groups as an experiential counselor for a PHP.
“Just Put a Ghost on It” was the name of my first group — playful, healing, and the beginning of something new.
Later came sessions inspired by the term 'Hungry Ghost"—a Buddhist symbol of insatiable craving and often used to describe the restless ache of addiction. It’s a feeling we know well.
And let’s not forget music!—the way it lingers, haunts, and can heal. A certain song, a mixtape, an album that holds a memory like a time capsule. We wanted to honor that notion and offer what's helped us through some challenging times and my goodness, it's needed now more than ever.

GHOST
STORY
A
A Vision
To offer a mindful, musically centered social refuge in Turner Falls, where both analog music, slow-crafted coffee and NA drinks can be savored through all the senses, fostering local community, art, and culture.
Imagine stepping into a warmly designed room: the lights are low, a record spins on a turntable, and the sound fills the space with clarity. You sip a crafted drink, browse records, or simply sit back and immerse yourself. It’s nightlife energy without the noise or alcohol—a cultural hub where music, intentional design, and human presence take priority.

A Belief with Hope
We believe people are craving connection—real, in-person moments without the sensory overload of clubs or the pressure of bars.
Vinyl cafés and listening bars can offer a reset: spaces to slow down, savor music, and build genuine bonds. We believe that they can be part of a cultural shift.
At Two Ghosts, we’re hoping to offer a reimagined sober social space that feels fresh,
meaningful, and supportive of a deeply needed niche for various communities. Through analog sound, sober hospitality, and intentional experiences. This isn’t just about music—it’s about atmosphere, values, reclaiming how we spend time and the joy of being fully present.
